2016 Gift Of The Heart – Kingsway

Woodbury, NJ April 4, 2016
For Immediate Release

The law firm of Hoffman DiMuzio has allocated close to a half a million dollars to its “Gift of the Heart” Community Service Scholarship Foundation. Forty-one graduating seniors from Gloucester & Salem County High Schools have been selected to receive a one thousand dollar scholarship for embodying the service ideals of the program. This week, the 2016 “Gift of the Heart” Hoffman DiMuzio Community Service Foundation recipients are from Kingsway Regional High School: Gabriella Bruno and Jeremy Otten.

Gabriella Bruno

2016 Gift Of The Heart Gabriella BrunoMartin Luther King Jr. wrote, “Life’s most persistent and urgent question is, what are you going to do for others? For Gabriella, the answer to that question is volunteering, which she started doing in middle school. At that young age, she began working at the Kingsway High School Craft Fair helping to transport tables, loading up crafts and setting up stalls. She has been a fixture at this event each year. Gabriella also uses her time to help children with disabilities. She has been part of the TOPSoccer as well as the iCan Ride Bikes programs coaching and teaching children.

Gabriella has been a four-year member of the Kingsway High School Student Council. As a school leader, she has mentored young children in the Headstart program. She has also volunteered for both the Spring and Fall blood drives. Gabriella has collected jeans for the Jeans for the Teen’s drive in addition to volunteering for the annual Veteran’s Day dinner and assisting with the Harvest Gala. Her love for athletics led her to volunteer in the training room as well as at a physical therapist office in Logan Township. Great job Gabriella!

Jeremy Otten

Gift Of The Heart Jeremy OttenJeremy is a man on a mission to help others. Volunteering gives him a sense of fulfillment and fun that is hard to top. Beginning in eighth grade, Jeremy played piano at a local retirement home and helped build a manger at a nearby church. In his Freshman year at Kingsway, he joined the Interact Club and volunteered at the Kingsway High School Craft Show. To this day, Jeremy volunteers at the Kings Things Christian Thrift Store where he assists in moving heavy boxes, helping in the food pantry, operating the register and organizing the clothing.

Through his volunteering, Jeremy became interested in the work being done by the Swedesboro Parks and Recreation Department. He attended meetings and acted as a liaison to the Interact Club advising of upcoming events and volunteer opportunities. Jeremy participates in Park and Recreation events such as Fun Day, the Easter Egg Hunt as well as a bowling party. His service through his church includes feeding homeless people in Camden serving soup, hot chocolate, sandwiches and cookies. Way to go, Jeremy!

Congratulations are extended to Kingsway High School students Gabriella Bruno and Jeremy Otten as well as to their proud family and friends! Their community service to others shows the true meaning of a Gift of the Heart!

Next week’s featured recipients will be from Paulsboro High School.
