Allison Gilbert – 2015 Hoffman DiMuzio Scholarship Winner from Glassboro High School

Congratulations to Allison Gilbert of Glassboro High School – One of the 2015 Hoffman DiMuzio Scholarship Fund Recipients
Allison is active in and out of school and fondly credits her mother for showing her just how important “service” is. In school, Allison serves as the student government Executive Secretary and the Class of 2015 Secretary. She is Vice President of the Tri M Music Honor Society as well as Treasurer of the National Honor Society. As a member of the Glassboro Fine and Performing Arts Academy, she studies violin and plays in a quartet, which volunteers their time performing in the community. Allison also volunteers her time tutoring math students.
As a Girl Scout for 12 years, she has participated in numerous community service projects outside of school such as community cleanups, book drive, planting flowers and Girl Scout Cookie manager with her Mother. Her favorite charity is helping the National World Wildlife Fund. Funds are raised through bake sales, craft fairs and yard sales.
Allison profoundly believes that animals are an important part of our eco-system, she is happy to help endangered species from all over the world with her service!
Andrew Bernard – 2015 Hoffman DiMuzio Scholarship Winner from Glassboro High School

Congratulations to Andrew Bernard of Glassboro High School – One of the 2015 Hoffman DiMuzio Scholarship Fund Recipients
Like Allison, Andrew credits his mother for introducing him to his favorite service project. As President of the National Honor Society, Andrew with the support of his mom, created a chapter of Teens For Jeans. The Glassboro National Humor Society collected jeans for needy teens across the country. He strongly encourages and hopes this program will continue even after he graduates this June.
Andrew has always been a strong, dedicated student and extremely active in many service projects in the community. He helps to weed and harvest his church vegetable garden, which in turn helps to supply food to an area Samaritan center. He has raised funds for world hunger, visited a Camden neighborhood center to volunteer his time with the children as well as serve them lunch. Andrew helped victims of Hurricane Sandy and has maintained the Glassboro Little League complex while working as a helper for the Buddy and Me baseball league.
Congratulations are extended to Allison Gilbert and Andrew Bernard as well as their proud parents, family and friends!
Next week, the Hoffman DiMuzio Community Service featured scholarship recipients will be from Gloucester County Institute of Technology.
